rip it up

Scenes from Ripon Cathedral, North Yorkshire...

Couldn't get a full exterior shot of the west front, so I pieced
a few photos together in a fit of Hockney-esque inspiration.

Approaching the cathedral from the south.

A church was begun on the site in 672 by St. Wilfrid of Ripon.

You got a heart of glass or a heart of stone.

From the nave.

Cathedrals in my heart.

Confines a past that won't let you go.

Requisite crossing shot with an agnus dei.

Too many shadows, whispering voices.

The painted choir screen -- don't get too excited, it's modern.
Does give a good idea of what medieval screens
would've looked like during their heyday though.

We've got no future, got no past.

Vanish in the air, you'll never find me.

Another ceiling.

Choir screen kings.

Time for some funerary monuments !

I will turn your face to alabaster.

Then you'll find your servant is your master.

Heraldry.

I NEED a pendant with that coat of arms on it.

Many Elizabeths in Ripon.

Died April 11.

A daughter.

Hey Elizabeth, you know, I'm doing all right these days.

Patriotic street across from the west front.

The pretty "city" of Ripon.

Eng.

St. Anne's House.
