magical mystery tour

Phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust.
And I have become a parody of myself.
Luckily I had a professional photographer on hand to document.
{Thanks, A.}

Roll up, roll up for the Magical Mystery Tour.
{She's got a ticket to ri-i-ide.}

Waiting to take you awayyyyyyyyyyyy.

RINGO'S STREET.

RINGO'S PUB.

RINGO'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

WHERE JOHN LENNON'S PARENTS MET.

Is in my ears and in my eyes.

PENNY LA-ANE.

I sit, and meanwhile back.

Behind the shelter in the middle of a roundabout.

Penny Lane there is a barber sharing photographs.

Silly girl, take a good look around you.

I look at the world and I notice it's turning.

#12, CHEZ HARRISON.

We all know ob-la-di-bla-da,
but can you show me where you are ?

CHEZ EPSTEIN.

WHERE PAUL MET JOHN.

Let me take you down,
'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.

Nothing is real.

All you need is love.
Love is all you need.

But you know I know when it's a dream.

STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER.

JOHN LENNON LIVED HERE.

MACCA'S STREET.

Once there was a way to get back homeward.
Once there was a way to get back home.

SIR PAUL WUZ HERE.

Back into Liverpool centre for the Cavern Quarter.

It calls me on and on across the universe.

Cavern Pub.

CAVERN CLUB.

Of course VW has a shop next door to the Cavern.
She is so infinitely cool.

A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
{Funny story: I used to think the lyrics were
"A girl with colitis goes by." Lololololololol.}

Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies.

And our friends are all aboard.

I'm looking through you, where did you go ?

There are places I remember.

All my life, though some have changed.

Some forever, not for better.

Some have gone and some remain.

All these places have their moments.

With lovers and friends I still can recall.

Some are dead and some are living.

In my life, I've loved them all.

Oh hey "John Lennon."

Here it all began...

Liverpool Lime Street <3.

And let's end it on this...
xx

{I'll be writing more in a week or two.
I can make it longer if you like the style, I can change it round.}

going down to liverpool

... to do {something}.
An artsy morning in The Pool = perfection.

"For a time the talk was all of Liverpool.
Branwell's enthusiasm was infectious.
The family must go -- his father, his aunt, the girls;
Nobody had lived if they had not seen Liverpool."
~ Daphne DuMaurier, The Infernal World of Branwell Brontë

Good Morning Good Morning.

Started at the Walker Art Gallery.

Enter via this amazing Neoclassical sculpture gallery.

Ugh love.

Peacock.

Obsessed with the damask walls.

And with this.

My man.

Bearded Man in Armour.

And the reason for hitting up this gallery.
Getting to see another painting from my undergrad
art history thesis in the flesh = priceless.

Portrait of Marguerite d'Angoulême,
Jean Clouet, ca. 1530.

I deeply approve of how they have this displayed --
at eye level, and against that lime green damask !

And a Pugin chair for good measure.

From the gallery steps.

The Beatles used to play at the Empire Theatre, nbd.

Intense weather in Liverpool.

Bluest skies one minute.

L1.

Lots of animal print in Liverpool.

Desperate Scousewife.

Lololololololol where am I, Murrica ?

Here Comes The Sun.

Immediately followed by an intense hailstorm.

Making our way down to the docks, despite the hail.

Albert Dock, at the heart of Liverpool.

There must be something in the water {that's the Mersey}.

For You Blue.

Same-ish but so pretty.

And I said, it's all right.

Warehouses.

And the reason for hitting up the docks... the Tate Liverpool
"Alice in Wonderland: Through the Visual Arts" Exhibition !

The Tate Liverpool is in one of the old warehouses.

The exhibition was AMAZING.

It combined Lewis Carroll's photography collection, writings,
and drawings, with dozens of printed and film versions of
Alice in Wonderland, and tons of modern art inspired by the story.

No photos allowed inside, so I bought the catalogue.

Charles L. Dodgson/Lewis Carroll's photographs of the
real Alice (Alice Liddell) and her sisters.

Julia Margaret Cameron, Alice Liddell as St. Agnes, 1872.

Dodgson's original sketches for Alice in Wonderland.

And a sampling of other stuff from the exhibition...

"Purports to be for children, but don't be fooled." ~ Adrian Piper

I was so inspired. Highly recommend !

Back out to the docks.

Look out; helter skelter.
^^ & stay tuned for a very FAB Liverpool afternoon...
xx
