Today was beyond cool. Our class got to go up on the scaffolding of the Great East Window of York Minster, which is undergoing a major multi-year conservation of both stained glass and masonry. We went all the way to the top of the Minster, and, amazingly, I was able to keep my fear of heights at bay. Some photos...
On the scaffolding...
All of the stained glass is out of the windows for an almost ten-year conservation project.
Gorgeous medieval stonework. Amazing how detailed it is, even so high up on the building where no one could really see it.
I love this lion.
And now for a series of stonework photographs...
At the top, looking towards the West Front of the Minster.
Minster spire.
View from the top.
Oh yes, I am wearing a hard hat.
