drive my car

Oh you know, just getting to spend two hours wandering around the brand new Riverside Museum of Transport, which opened in June. Och aye aye, all part of the "job."

The new building was designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid.

The shape is meant to mimic the waves of the River Clyde.

It is right on the river, hence the name.

Let's go inside.

It's a lovely jumble of every kind of transport you could imagine.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Etc., etc., etc.

The paint colour is "pistachio," by the way.

And I quite like it.

Now transportation isn't my interest.

But it was interesting to observe the
place from a museology point of view.

So these are just images from my meanderings.

I think the iconic trams of Glasgow are most striking.

I love how the old adverts on them survive.

Lipton for Bacon, lolz.

The Order of the Bath, lolz.

Et plus.

Don't leave me hanging on the telephone.

I'm in the phone booth, it's the one across the hall.

OF COURSE.

A hippie mobile.
"Violence Ends Where Love Begins."
They should park this in Londontown.

I love this funny van.

I could see little sister driving this around, lolz.

Baby you can drive my car.

Yes, I'm gonna be a star.

Baby you can drive my car.

And maybe I'll love you.

I wish I could wear this to go for a drive.

Along with this.
ERMINE ERMINE I LOVE ERMINE.
If anyone wants to buy me an ermine muff (and stole too), feel free.

More vintage costumes on display.

I think these are to appeal to the female audience !

Pretty.

Ooh and there's this.
Worn by Miz Audrey Hepburn in Two for the Road.

Shall we get on the subway ?

Vintage Glasgow.

Peeking out onto the platforms they've built in the museum.

I never take the Glasgow subway.
Instead I spend half my life waiting on buses.

Emerge on the Old Street.

It's supposed to represent 1930s Glasgow.

And it's really cool.

You can go into some of the little shops.

It's like stepping into yesteryear.

I really liked the "Italian Cafe"... yes, I know it has a French name.
But it is known as the "Italian Cafe." That's Glasgow for you.

Have you seen me lately ?

Horseshoes.

Horse-drawn hearse.

Me and the hearse. OF COURSE.

And some random bits pour finir.

Ship figurehead, 19th C.

Vintage jam jars; Carluke Gooseberry.

Dundee Orange Marmalade.

Carluke Strawberry.

Old Film Star Cards.

Elephant fabric.

And some taxidermy for good measure.

Zebraaaaaa.

Listen babe, I got something to say.

I got no car and it's breaking my heart.

But I've found a driver, and that's a start.
xx
