Did you know that Stirling used to be Scotland's capital city?
They've still got lots of national spirit.
Pretty little city.
Lots o' history.
Two thousand yesterdays.
That pink building is the 17th C. Argyll's Lodgings.
I regret not going in, but it was an extra cost
and I Am At Poverty Level.
And across the street...
The ruined Mar's Wark,
Renaissance townhouse of the Earl of Mar.
The Earl of Mar was the keeper of Stirling Castle.
He proclaimed his status with royal arms
and inscriptions on the building.
Entrance.
This bizarre shrouded figure is known as Jeannie Dark.
If you know French, it might ring a bell.
It's Jeanne d'Arc {translation: Joan of Arc}.
Looking downtown from the ruins.
And looking next door, to the Church of the Holy Rude.
The church was built on an earlier church site
in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
James VI was crowned here in 1567, at age one.
Some bits of the interior...
Et plus.
Et plus.
Y'all know I ended up in the graveyard.
Pretty.
Blue skies.
Grey tombstones.
Green grass.
Flowers and Holy Rude.
There's also the 17th C. Cowane's Hospital.
It was an almshouse for poor members of the merchant guild.
Another old house.
Pink trim; blue skies.
&Hearts.
And this city ditty.
Loyalty.
Stirling Arcade.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.
