A December visit to Castle Howard, better known as the house from Brideshead Revisited, aka the most depressing story in the history of the world.
Oh and the best part of visiting Castle Howard is learning that the fam who live there, which consists of an old guy and his trophy wife who totally married him just for the house, have five-year-old twins named...
wait for it...
MERLIN AND OCTAVIA.
HOW IS THIS OKAY. HOW.
So aristocratic Eng I can't even handle it...This is the exterior, but we'll begin inside le house.
SEBASTIANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
Much marble.
And it's all grey to me.
Well you know grey is my favourite colour.
{ I felt so symbolic, yesterday. }
But all I can see is red, red, red, red, red now.
There's solace a bit in submitting.
To the fitfully, cryptically true.
What's happened has happened.
What's coming is already on its way.
With a role for me to play.
Have you seen me lately ?
Well then, suddenly, there was no one left standing in the hall.
I burn candles and stare at a ghost.
She dreams in colour, she dreams in red.
I recognise the walls inside.
Grand Hall bit.
The ceiling's not too shabby.
The Brideshead set.
If dreams are like movies...
Then memories are films about ghosts.
Are your secrets where you left them ?
'Cause now your ghosts are mine as well...
Say you see through the folly.
But you do it for the fame.
'Cause I'm a vampire, y'all.
And we toast the blood of our enemies.
You're still scaring me, no.
You're scaring me, no.
When I went searching for an answer.
Up the stairs and down the hall.
Not to find an answer.
Just to hear the call.
And we stand up in the palace like it's
the last of the great pioneer town bars.
Chapel.
Live for the folly.
But you did it for the fame.
Leaving Brideshead...
But the light that falls on my castle walls.
Zodiac Fountain.
Oh, well you see it in the reflection.
Temple of the Four Winds.
And beauty stands before you.
Never too late to change the pace.
So all the days creep up on you.
But the goodness is something...
You don't have to chase.
'Cause it's following you.
Oh, well you see it in the reflection.
Home now ?
The stately homes of England,
How beautiful they stand.
To prove the upper classes
Have still the upper hand !
xx

Good heavens...can hardly believe this magical trip was nearly a year ago.
