running through the garden

A windy day walking through the West End.
It is le weekend after all, so that's where you'll find me.
I wandered into the Glasgow Botanic Gardens.
I am really not a nature girl, but they are nice.
Especially because the steamy & humid glasshouses
remind me of Maryland summers.
And provide a stark contrast to the sad excuse that is
Scottish summer (read: winter).

Entering Glasgow Botanic Gardens.

Pretty Gatehouses.

Glasshouse through the trees.

Yes, they are called glasshouses, not greenhouses, here.

Same diff.

The warm glasshouses provide
a nice respite from le wind.

I imagine it's especially nice during the harsh Ggow winter.

Particularly dans la rainforêt.

I kept expecting a monkey to jump out at me.

Thank god that didn't happen.

Tropical pompoms & streaming sun.

Des orchidées pour Maman.

Spotted.

And it was called yellow.

Orchids & Controls.

Glass orchids et moi.

Now on to Kibble Palace, the most famous of the Ggow Glasshouses.

It was built in the 19th century by John Kibble
for his home on Loch Long. It was later floated in pieces
down the River Clyde by barge to be rebuilt in Ggow.

Sorry, no dogz allowed.

It's quite wow.

Entrance.

Blue sky through the ceiling.
I swear to you, blue skies are so rare here.

There's pretty Neoclassical sculptures all around too.

Nice to sit.

Bird of Paradise for Vati.

Ferns.

And now a series of the same things.

But from different angles.

But it's pretty.

So oh well.

Oh hey carnivorous plants.

If I ever have a greenhouse I will grow carnivorous plants in it.

À la Morticia Addams.

Venus Flytraps.

Back outside.

Pretty.

Au revoir, les jardins.
xx
