la mélodie

Two years ago, I lived in Paris. It seems like another lifetime. Probably because I had to suppress the memories last year after going back to the States for senior year of college, quel letdown. Today I uncovered some forgotten and random photos from my first weeks in the city of lights. I thought they deserved some love.

First picture I took when I arrived, from the group hostel.

Bien sûr.

N-D de Paris. NBD.

View from ma chambre in the seventeenth.

Where I bought my books. Oh, Gibert.

La fontaine Médicis in the Jardin du Luxembourg.

From the Musée d'Orsay.

Looking through the d'Orsay clock.

Musée Carnavalet.

Carnavalet in the Marais.

It was called yellow.

Église Saint-Paul.

Favourite gallery at the Louvre:
Medieval polychrome, of course.

La Sainte-Chapelle at night.

And its gates.

Nuit blanche.

Tour Saint-Jacques.

The spotlight on la Tour reached my little chambre
all the way in the dix-septième.

Sacré-Coeur at night with friends, unforgettable.

It's not too bad during the day either.

Carousel of Montmartre.

Crow at Père-Lachaise.

That cemetery is my favourite place in Paris.

I would wander around it for many afternoon hours.

And there's always a surprise around the corner.

It's simply beautiful.

And poignant.

Sometimes dilapidated.

Sometimes fresh.

The red room across the way from mine.

Parisian night skies.

À vingt ans.
I was really happy then.
