Complicated by a camera ban in the abbey.
I got a couple shots "before I realized no pictures were allowed,"and the rest are from internet and postcards I scanned. Dedicación.
We are programmed to receive.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
Religious statues in niches.
Kolpingstraße.
Heading towards Waldsassen Abbey.
Lizzy catching up with the group.
Constructed in the 17th century in the Baroque style.

Postcard of the very Baroque interior.

Bottom left. One of the skeleton saints of Waldsassen.
There are ten of these jeweled skeletons,
in elab 17th c. dress, around the church.
They are said to be the relics of ancient Christian
martyrs, exhumed from the Roman catacombs.

Postcard; their jaunty poses are the best part.

Moving on to the Waldsassen Foundation Library.

Postcard view.

From the guide book. Lots of crazy Baroque symbolism.
Not to mention we all had to wear these special slippers
over our shoes and skate across the inlaid wood floors.
It was so hysterical, I wish I could have taken a picture.
Leaving town; a bakery.
We are all just prisoners here, of our own device.
