a riddling tale (rätselmärchen)

Our second day in gorgeous Regensburg, spent at and atop the Dom.

A walk to the Dom under sapphire skies.

Around the side.

A building I liked.

First, a private tour of the stonemasons' lodge !

Lots of interesting things about.

Inside.

BAVARIAAAAAAAAAA.

Lots of dust.

Interesting bottles.

Inside the Dom.

East End.

Requisite central crossing ceiling shot.

A closer look at the amazing silver altar.

And the medieval east windows.

Walking above the altar to inspect the windows up close.

Not high at all... just wait.

Looking out across the Dom.

Colored stained glass cathedral.

Some pretty glass, dating to 13-14th centuries...

Stained glass sheep.

Then we climbed this, the "Donkey Tower,"
which has a huge medieval spiral ramp inside,
so donkeys could climb it and transport heavy stone to the top.

The climb {&& des gargouilles}.

Step by step I've come closer to reaching the top.

Looking down to see about how much higher I am.

With some luck I just might keep on climbing.

Getting closer.

So high the climb.

I better my view.

Beautiful views over gorgeous Regensburg.

You can spy the Old Stone Bridge in this one.

Must keep on climbing, up to the clouds.

Rooftops of Regensburg.

To the top, to the top, to the top.

Touching the sky.

Friends on the edge.

Smiles all around.

Paint another picture, see who's surprised.*

What it's really all about.

Waving to Sarah below.

Sebastian on the edge.

I didn't continue all the way to the top of the Dom,
which I REALLY regret. I'm not even that afraid of heights, but
I was seized with the feeling that I was going to fall off the ledge.
I will forever regret it though. Always take risks.

On the bright side, got some me time wandering around R-burg.

And looking at more antiques shops.

Then we all gathered on the banks of the Danube.

And we hit up the Historic Bratwurst Stand.

It has been in business since 1138 !

And it's pretty damn good.

Blue skies over the Danube as we left gorgeous Regensburg.
I WILL be back one day.
xx
